THIS EVENT IS ON - This coming weekend:

Like mushrooms?

you'll love this.

Day-trip OR campout overnight in Savannah, ~ 2hrs away.

Hike in the forest in the morning with an expert guide, with an intro-to-foraging class, water and snacks provided - $20 cash on-site, then 7pm we'll eat what we find, cooked by the restaurant staff - Clay is the owner of a fabulous wild mushroom-based restaurant called The Haunt (menu below).

Optional camping Sat night and cooking in the forest!

SUNDAY 9:15 we'll start the actual forage.

Clay will be camping on-site Sat night for anyone who wants to camp overnight (free, but no facilities so plan "boondock style").

I'll message the GPS location to anyone going.

$20 cash on-site for our fearless leader includes some water, snacks, and expect we'll be out there a few hours in 2 locations - he has some really special stuff planned for us, followed by dinner at The Haunt @ 7pm.

UPDATES - This is proceeding and gonna be awesome. We are firming up plans this week.

1. FOOD: Plan: Pick mushrooms (+ other foraging?) Sat and then Clay & his fab chefs will cook up what we find Sat eve, and brunch Sunday.
See The Haunt at https://www.facebook.com/thehauntsav

2a. CAMPING: Boondock style: We can camp on site, but it's boondock - zero facilities. If you want to camp at the mushroom location, you've got to be self sufficient - either cool with a bucket, peeing in the woods, etc.

2b. I think there are some places nearby - stores, restaurants etc -
2c. for those going, I'll get you GPS to the location.
2d. We plan to show up late morning Saturday; time of our foraging adventure TBD but I'll shoot for 9-10 am.
2e. I'm unclear if we can arrive Friday evening, I'm guessing yes but can't presume til I confirm with host.
3. If you're not cool with boondock-camping, there are campgrounds and state parks sort of nearby, hotels & BnBs & AirBnBs of course in Savannah.
