This month, starting at 7pm, we are extremely lucky to have Chari and James Elam from Bluebonnet Beekeeping come all the way from Conroe, TX to discuss how to use Nucs to make your Apiary sustainable: this is a class for beekeepers with a good knowledge of bee biology, but everyone will benefit from this very informative presentation. Using Nucs is a method used a great deal up north to overcome winter losses, but Chari and James have developed a Texas version of the system to be the "All year round" resource colony - always having the resources needed to overcome obstacles!
Current Montgomery County Beekeepers Association (MoCo) Mentor Directors ~ (one of the largest Mentor programs in Texas) and active Mentors in the MoCo Youth Sponsorship program, Chari and James have owned and operated the very successful Bluebonnet Beekeeping Supplies until recently selling the “Supplies” end of the business, maintaining the selling of Nucleus Colonies and teaching classes. They regularly teach all levels of beekeeping at Bee Schools and Seminars across Texas and Louisiana ~ frequently guest host on local radio programs promoting local Agricultural interest, National Webinars as well as speaking at “Local” Bee Clubs and nationally at the North American Beekeeping Conference. It is our privilege to receive them at HCBA for this one of a kind presentation.
