Contentful London Meetup - Career talks, Creative Coding, Free Food!

Save the date because we're back in London! After a long break, Contentful will return to London for a fun and informative developer meetup.

Join us at the Green Room (101 Upper Ground) on October 26 starting at 5:00 pm. The night will start off with a quick round of lightning talks and then we'll do a deep dive into some neat topics with some amazing speakers. We will also be having an evening watch party for Fast Forward Live where we will be announcing Contentful updates and exciting new product launches, and more!

Getting started in the software industry is hard. Taz will outline the lessons learnt from his journey as an 11-year-old kid trying to make a video game by learning JavaScript to supporting Toronto’s software community & mentoring developers to progressing through the industry & scaling up software teams.

Arrows (At Length)
Steve Ruiz, Founder of tldraw
Love linking lines? Join Steve in considering the humble arrow as both a programming problem and a user experience challenge. In this talk, he'll present the many complex problems and solutions that he has encountered when working with arrows in his open source library perfect-arrows and later in tldraw (tldraw.com). With a narrow scope and plenty of animations to guide the way, we'll look at intersections, arrow heads, arrow head angles, and all of the different user interface issues behind authoring and adjusting arrows between shapes, other shapes, and points.

Obinna Ekwuno, JavaScript Dev and Developer Advocate
All serverless platforms are extensions of the power of front-end developers, and with better serverless the blurring of middleware boundaries around ownership issues that exist between back-end and front-end teams is somewhat clearer. This answers the old question of "who owns the proxy server?" That's what a serverless platform owns!

But what happens when the serverless code leaves the computer? Where are you going? Do you want to make new friends wherever you go? As the size of the company grows, will we grow together with it? Let's talk about this. In this program, we'll be talking about pushing the boundaries of serverless.
