Graph processing in Julia

Details

We are happy to announce our next meetup with the following agenda.

Presentation: The GraphBLAS initiative is an effort to design a set of standard building blocks that allow users to formulate graph computations in the language of linear algebra, using operations on sparse adjacency matrices defined on custom semirings. Since its inception, GraphBLAS has been implemented for multiple languages (e.g. C and C++). However, current GraphBLAS implementations are often cumbersome to use and difficult to adapt for analysing typed graph data sets.

In this talk, we present our Julia-based partial reimplementation of GraphBLAS and discuss the lessons learnt with a particular emphasis on performance.

The presentation will be held in English.

Speaker's bio: Gabor Szarnyas is a researcher at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics working on graph processing techniques. His fields of interest are efficient graph pattern matching, database benchmarking, and analyzing large-scale networks.

After the meetup there will be opportunity for socializing (which will be either at the same venue as the presentation or in a pub).

Schedule:

  • 18:30 Door open, pizza and socializing
  • 19:00 Presentation: Graph processing in Julia by Gábor Szárnyas
