On Saturday 20th of September we're going hiking again! This time we're going for a 9km walk in Utrecht's Maximapark.
Start point will be Utrecht Terwijde train station. From there we'll head to the North side of the Maximapark first, where we'll pass by the Haarrijnse Plas (lake). We'll continue the walk going through a.o. the Japanese Garden and the Vlinderhof (Butterfly garden) before heading back to Terwijde train station.
Do you think about joining, but you're not sure if it's something for you? Let us explain. Utrecht Hiking Community aims to organise one hike per month in or around Utrecht. If you're in for a hike with a bunch of friendly other hiking enthusiasts, you're very welcome to join, no matter whether you're an expat, local, nomad, student, professional or beginner. The hikes are a way to meet people while being active and going to places you otherwise might not be going to. We call this 'Social Hiking'. If your aim is to hike fast, we might not be the right hiking group for you though.
How should you prepare? Please wear good walking shoes and bring something to eat or drink during the way. The weather forecast is looking good, so it's good to hydrate well and put on some SPF.
Also, please try to arrive on time. We'd like to depart soon after our meeting time of 10.30AM and don't want to keep the whole group waiting. If you're arriving late due to unforeseen circumstances, you can however send a WhatsApp message to +31621177691. We can then share our live location with you, do you can try to catch up with the group.
At Terwijde train station there's no toilets, so please visit a restroom before you arrive. Dogs are allowed on this route, but need to be kept on a leash on most parts of the route. After the hike there's the option to have a lunch/drinks in the nearby Terwijde shopping center.
