Introduction to quantum algorithms II by QUANTIC|BSC-CNS

Details

Hello quantum friends!

We are happy to announce the second round of the introduction to quantum algorithms. This time, we will have Sergio Sanchez and Sergi Masot from the QUANTIC group at BSC (Barcelona Supercomputing Center). The group focuses on the application of quantum computers to hard scientific problems. These may be formulated from fundamental principles, or by an affective optimization function. Additionally, they exploit the full power of current classical devices to develop novel simulation tools for Quantum systems in HPC systems.

Looking forward to see you there!

Description:

Quantum computing has been proposed as a very promising alternative to solve certain problems for which classical computers struggle to give a good solution, some of these mathematical problems are of great interest for many real-world applications.
However, in order to take advantage of the quantum properties that are expected to provide a large speedup, we need to build new algorithms based on the rules of quantum mechanics. In this talk we will introduce different approaches that can be taken into consideration when designing a quantum algorithm for a given problem, and the pros, cons and limitations of each one. We will also go through some useful algorithms and subroutines that can be applied for many use cases.
