Sandstone Ranch is Douglas County Open Space. It is near Larkspur, south of Denver. The Sandstone Ranch web site is at https://www.douglas.co.us/open-space-natural-resources/properties/sandstone-ranch/

I plan to be in the parking lot by 9:15 and begin hiking at 9:30. I'll be in a gold Toyota Corolla.

We will follow the Sandstone Meadow Trail Loop, which is 3.7 miles. Then, for those who wish to hike a bit further, we can add the Gambel Oak Loop, which is another 0.8 mile. Will probably be about 2 hours for both loops. For anyone wishing to hike even further, there is a third loop, the Juniper Valley Loop, which adds another 3.2 miles. I will probably stop after 2 loops, for a total of 4.5 miles.

Directions:

  • From the Denver metro area, drive south on I-25. Exit I-25 at Larkspur Exit 173, then continue south to Larkspur
  • At the stop sign in Larkspur, turn right onto Perry Park Avenue for approximately 3 miles
  • At the intersection where Perry Park Avenue dead-ends, turn left onto Highway 105
  • The Sandstone Ranch trailhead is approximately .6 mile from the intersection and is located on the right (west) side of the highway
  • Follow the gravel driveway to the parking lot approximately 1/3 mile.

Alternatively, you can use the following address for GPS directions. It should get you to Sandstone Ranch. 9605 S. Perry Park Road, Larkspur, CO 80118
