YEG Astrology - ♎ ♏ LIBRA + SCORPIO Season

Long time no see, astro pals!

It's been a while! We hope you've been enjoying a lovely transition into the crisp autumn season, got up to plenty of mischief for Halloween and/or Samhain, and maybe lended an ancestor an ear or two. Both of yeg astrology's organizers have been exceptionally busy with school, and I (Gabriela) could not find the time to schedule our monthly meetup...so, in truly Libran fashion, we're doing the Libra season meetup a taaaaad bit late, and alongside our friendly neighbourhood goth, Scorpio!

Alongside Virgo, these signs complete the autumnal triad of the Zodiac; cardinal Libra, the keeper of Justice, the beginning of the harvest when the first leaves begin to fall, and the balancing of the light and dark halves of the year. Then, fixed Scorpio, the bringer of decay and darkness, the middle of the harvest when the leaves begin to rot, and momento mori, committing to the vow that all things which come to be must also pass away. Much has been said about these two archetypes, and we will probe them to their very depths, together and apart.

This season has seen much activity for both signs as well; Venus, after transiting Virgo where she is fallen, has just entered her home of Libra, where she is renewed and strengthened. This comes after a significant summer-long transit in Leo, where Venus began a new 8-year synodic cycle. Throughout September and October, Mercury and Mars also transited through Libra, calling attention to our interpersonal relationships, artistic sensibilities, and matters of Truth and Justice, with an intense focus from Mercury, and a charged, albeit awkward, potency from Mars in detriment. Now, both Mercury and Mars are making their way through Scorpio, with Mercury acting as anthropologist, digging into the depths of the soul for ancient battle artifacts, familial wounds, ancestral trauma, and all the gore and guts that makes a human, and soon will leave us to process what has been unearthed in the process. Mars, the decorated soldier, has just returned home from battle to be commemorated in a triumphal procession of heroes when he makes an auspicious cazimi with the Sun on November 15-18, 2023 -- the first Mars cazimi in Scorpio since November 1991! Like the phoenix in an ever-lasting cycle of self-destruction and regeneration, we are witnessing a rebirth of a Mars renewed with an unswayable force of willpower, libido, and life force that will push us to the gloriously bitter edge of experience.
