Summary: A welcoming, one-hour workshop introducing meditation through an affirming, trauma-informed lens. Participants will share experiences, engage in creative reflection, and practice grounding techniques designed to foster resilience and self-compassion within LGBTQIA+ communities, followed by half an hour of open social time with light refreshments.
Workshop Timeline:
Welcome & Participant Sharing (10 min): Introductions and sharing about meditation experiences and intentions.
Educational Segment (10 min): Overview of meditation basics and affirming practices tailored to LGBTQIA+ identities.
Reflection Activity (10 min): Journaling or drawing prompts exploring safe, affirming meditation spaces and personal needs.
3 Guided Meditation Practice (25 min): Breath awareness, loving-kindness, and visualization exercises with inclusive language.
Group Debrief & Q&A (5 min): Brief sharing, questions, and closing reflections.
Open Community Space (30 min): Enjoy community and light refreshments
š§ About Natashja James
Natashja James, BSW, MS, LPC, RYT is a Licensed Professional Counselor, social worker, certified school counselor, and yoga teacher with over 13 years of experience in mental health, education, and wellness. She is the founder of Peace Be Still Holistic Health, a practice that supports college, graduate, and medical studentsāas well as early-career professionalsāfrom diverse backgrounds and communities. With a deep commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive care, Natashja brings a holistic lens to her work; blending clinical expertise, mindfulness, and movement to foster resilience and healing. In addition to her counseling work, she trains other clinicians and facilitates community wellness events that inspire balance and connection. Outside of the clinical realm, Natashja can be found behind a camera, exploring new places, or soaking up lifeās sweetest moments with her hubby and 1.5-year-old daughter.
