Agenda:
19:00-19:15 Gathering and introductions
19:15-20:00 The Challenges of Data and Storage Interfacing Both Medical Systems and Research Platforms. What I Wish Storage Would Do - by Eyal Toledano, Co-Founder and CTO at Zebra Medical Vision Ltd
The presentation is discussing the complexities in interfacing medical systems with various standards, ingesting data import, indexing and search. I will also discuss shortly the high-level requirements of HIPAA and anonymization for research. The presentation will continue to discuss the concept of Data-In-The-Center in Zebra's machine learning research, the role of the storage in various stages of the research from databases, pre-processing and steaming it to satisfy the apetite of the GPUs in machine learning workloads. Eventually we will conclude by consolidating all these needs into a single imaginary smart storage vision.
20:00-20:15 Break
20:15-21:00 From Turing's Universal Machine to INFINIDAT's General-Purpose Storage Array: Digital Storage in Historical Perspective - by Leo Corry, Tel-Aviv University and INFINIDAT
Storage issues have posed significant challenges to engineers and developers ever since the dawn of the digital era. Curiously, however, it took several decades to conceive of the "storage industry" as a separate, autonomous entity with its own identity and with almost unlimited business potential. In the talk we will visit some of the most interesting technological crossroads in this story.
