Subversive Romance Double-Feature at The Black Potion!

Details
Hello SA Film Lovers! On September 14th, Black Potion Movie Daze continues its celebration of 20 years of Austin's Fantastic Fest film festival with a double feature from the festival's past. These two subversive and sensual romance films push boundaries and redefine love on screen.
6:00pm – The Handmaiden (2016) – Park Chan-wook (Oldboy) weaves an exquisite tale of seduction, deception, and shifting loyalties. Inspired by Sarah Waters’ Fingersmith, this lush Korean masterpiece follows a con woman who poses as a maid to a wealthy heiress—only for their scheme to spiral into unexpected passion and betrayal. Gorgeously shot and masterfully plotted, The Handmaiden is a modern classic of erotic intrigue.
8:35pm – The Duke of Burgundy (2014) – Peter Strickland (Berberian Sound Studio) crafts a hypnotic, dreamlike romance between two women whose relationship thrives on ritual, roleplay, and desire. Set in a mysterious, timeless European landscape, The Duke of Burgundy blends Gothic beauty with intimate emotional honesty, creating one of the most unique and intoxicating love stories of the 21st century.
Two bold films. Two visions of love untamed. One unforgettable night.
I'll be at the Black Potion (1901 Fredericksburg Rd) by 5:30pm setting things up for showtime and welcoming all attendees. Come grab a cold drink and a snack out front & join me back in the theater (past the bar, down the hall, second door on the right) before showtime!
Free parking is available in front and along the side of the theater, as well as in a big lot behind the store across Lynwood Ave.
As always, Black Potion Movie Daze screenings are FREE—so grab your friends & family and come join us! Hope to see you there!!
