About the show: Hadestown is a folk opera by Anaïs Mitchell that reimagines the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, intertwining it with the story of Hades and Persephone, set in a post-apocalyptic, Depression-era America. Known for its unique blend of American folk, jazz, and blues, the sung-through musical explores themes of love, faith, nature vs. industry, and hope, evolving from a community theater project into a Tony Award-winning Broadway hit. The show follows the young lovers Orpheus and Eurydice as they journey to the underworld, guided by the narrator Hermes, to save Eurydice from the clutches of Hades.
