San Gregorio Reservoir Loop with Las Vacas Extension (Carpool Event)

We’ve done this beautiful trail before and are excited to return! It’s located near Cuba, New Mexico, in the San Pedro Parks Wilderness Area. It’s a moderately challenging hike with stunning scenery and is open year-round.
Important note: If it has rained, the trail can get very muddy, so we’ll keep an eye on the weather leading up to the event.

Other things to know:
• Dogs are welcome!
• Mad cows warning: Last time, we had some “unfriendly” cows watching us closely. Stay alert and be prepared.
• Bring plenty of water, snacks, and sun protection (hat, sunscreen, etc.).

Post-Hike Meal Option:
After the hike, there’s a very good Mexican restaurant nearby in Cuba. I’ll call ahead and try to reserve a spot for us for anyone who wants to join.

Backpacking Opportunity:
We’ve had a few members asking about trying out backpacking. This trail is perfect for that! About two miles into the loop, there’s a large open field that would be ideal for setting up camp. If you’re interested in trying a short backpacking experience, this is your chance.
