Lee Brockhurst and Stanton Extension.

Details
This is a 6+ mile walk with no major ups and downs just the usual undulations. Limited parking is available (after turning off A49) in front of telephone kiosk and war memorial or on adjacent roadside and in community centre car park 100 yards up the road. SY4 5QQ or 5QH.
It features a Roman road which went from Wroxeter to Whitchurch passing through what is now Lee Brockhurst. Remains of this route are used on this circular walk taking in sandstone features and some fine views on the way.
The initial track we follow is of sandstone bedrock where you will have views to the left over Top Moss and Bury Wood. We cross the Papermill Bridge over the River Roden and continue, uphill, along a lane. We are going to, weather permitting and it hasn't on the previous two instances, undertake a 2 to 3 mile extension towards Stanton-In-The-Hine Heath and on return pass a chapel converted into a rather attractive residence bearing the date 1885. We continue on through the rural settlement of Moston. Then, we may undertake, a slightly reduced route to return avoiding a sharp sandstone uphill gully.
The terrain is country lanes, woodland tracks, fields and meadow paths. Suitable for dogs. Please bring a drink and a snack for a short break halfway.
Parking is somewhat limited so get there early and, as usual, there will be a prompt 10am start. For post-event refreshment we usually use the New Inns at Hadnall on the way back to Shrewsbury but we try to be flexible if people fancy a change?
