Pam and I are heading to Hartington in the Peak District on Saturday 1st November and are staying overnight at the Charles Cotton Hotel in Hartington Saturday night so on Sunday we plan to do a walk I call the six dales walk starting from Hartington Public Toilets / Farm Shop on Sunday 2nd November at about 10am. If you fancy this walk you have two choices: travel up on Sunday morning (travel time is 1.5 hours ish from Telford to Hartington Village where there is plenty of free parking in the village centre) or stay overnight somewhere in the vicinity. There are multiple B&b’s, hotels and YHA hostals in the area. (I can supply details if you want).
The walk is extremely scenic and is made up of Narrowdale, Alstonefield, Milldale, Dovedale, Wolfscote dale(Biggin Dale) and eventually Beresford dale and is approximately 8.5 to 9 miles in length. One gentle upslope and one serious down slope is all there is to contend with and the walk should take about 4 to 5 hours.
Lunch will be at Milldale Duck pond and will probably be Cornish pasty and hot chocolate from Polly’s Cottage. We should return to Hartington by 3pm and be away and home by 5pm on Sunday. There is no commitment if you enrol on this walk I would just like an idea of numbers expected.
I have done this walk many times and it is extremely interesting . More details will be posted as we progress.
