Flounders Folly and Callow Hill.
Details
We leave the station car park and walk along the A49 for 1/2 a mile until we join a path over the river Onny heading towards the outskirts of Halford. After walking a short distance along a lane we take a path on the left across open fields. 2 miles later we join the lane and walk up to Lower Dinchope, then take the path towards Callow Hill. The climb up through the tree plantation is very steep as it zig zags it’s way up to the ridge path towards Flounders Folly. This is a good spot to stop for a break before we continue along the ridge path, dropping down and doubling back towards the small car parking area for Callow Hill. After crossing Quinny Brook over a footbridge by the ford, we turn left and walk through the lovely village of Strefford and follow the path back towards Halford. After we have walked through Halford village we meet the main road back down to Craven Arms and the start of the walk.
8 3/4 miles with the steepest climb up through the trees towards the Folly.
The walk starts at the Train Station car park where the parking is free.
Dogs will need to be on a lead where there is livestock.
I think there is a pub in Craven Arms for those who want post walk refreshments.
