What we’re about
The Cozy Mystery Book Club is all about bringing coziness into our lives! Escape from the chaos of the real world and enjoy a cozy mystery read where problems are neatly solved by the end of the story.
Not familiar with the genre? Cozy mysteries are stories that typically skim over the unsavory details of the murder or other crime and instead, focus on solving the mystery. The main character is almost always an amateur sleuth who lives in a small town. The story often has a theme, such as knitting, gardening, baking, etc., and, in many cases, includes a pet cat or dog.
Cozy mysteries have little profanity, minimal descriptions of violence, and no "steamy" scenes, although a little sweet romance is sometimes incorporated. Think "Murder She Wrote" or the "Mystery Woman" movies with Kellie Martin.
The book club will always read the first in a series (or a standalone book) so that new members can join at any time. Cozy mysteries also have sub-genres like paranormal cozies, historical fiction cozies, cozy fantasy mysteries, etc., that we may read.
We'll meet at cozy locations around Cary (suggestions are more than welcome!). Members should feel free to bring whatever cozy materials they have on hand to use while we chat. For instance, you can knit or embroider while we talk, color in an adult coloring book, post a review on Goodreads, etc.
This group is free and open to everyone! Reach out to me with any questions.
