Banjo Music Extravaganza at Historic Hagood Mill, Pickens, SC

This is presented as a day ride, but given the distance and the time you could spend at the festival, I suggest we seriously consider making it an overnighter.

Meetup will be at 8AM, with a kickstands up departure time of 8:30 AM

We'll meet up at the Shell/Dunking Donuts by Exit 37 off I-26 in Erwin. The address is 517 Jonesborough Road, also named 2nd Street.

We could drive down Saturday morning, spend
the day at the Hagood Mill Banjo and Country Music Festival, then stay overnight in nearby Pickens, SC, and return home Sunday morning after breakfast. Or we could stop at Hagood Mill for lunch, and take a break there for a couple of hours and then head back home Saturday afternoon. Either way works for me. Let me know your thoughts.

Hagood Mill was built in the late 1700s and still operates today. They sell stone ground grits made there. There is also a Petroglyphs exhibit (ancient rock carvings), restored cabins, and other historic features there. Being a history nerd I find it all fascinating.

There is a banjo and old fashioned country music festival going on that day, which means food trucks and craft vendors. The site has a beautiful 1 mile hike around it if you care to stretch your legs.

Pack rain gear because of the distance and especially if we stay overnight as the weather can change. I also suggest bringing a blanket or pad to lay on to listen to the music, or camp chair if you can pack it. The vegetation is lush for a good reason. Also for the 2 wheelers among us bring a small plate for your kickstand as it might be a good idea since parking is in an unpaved field. There is a small fee for parking, but not sure if there is an entrance fee. More on that later. No one was in the office when I called as of writing this up. I will post updates.
