April First Friday Gallery Crawl (Shabbat dinner not happening this month)
Details
New stuff:
Drum roll...here's Friday's itinerary, along with updates of the initial description, which I've left below. (As I did last time, I'm including both the address of each stop and the time it will be open.)
1. Larry Becker Contemporary Art, 43 N 2nd Street, 5:00-7:00
2. Muse Gallery, 52 N 2nd, 5:00-8:00
3. Twelve Gates Arts, 106 North 2nd, 6:00-???
4. Pentimenti, 145 N 2nd, 5:00-8:00
5. F.A.N. Gallery, 221 Arch, 5:00-8:00
6. Paradigm Arts Building, 12 N 3rd, 6:00-8:00
7. Claudia Mills Rugs, 133 N 3rd, 5:00-8:00
8. Museum for Art in Wood, 141 N 3rd, 5:00-8:00
9. Seven Arts Framing, 255 N 3rd, 5:00-8:00
10. PII Gallery, 242 Race, 5:00-9:00

12. Arch Enemy Arts, 109 Arch (where else? :)), 5:00-9:00
MoA will be open that night but not free; I'm going to see if I can lead a tour, in which I can explain how, to name one example, the gigantic pearls in the photo were made, and get a reduced group rate in the process. :)
On Thursday, I'll email everyone who's still a "yes" RSVP with my cell number so that you can text me before and during the meetup if you want or need to. If, by Friday the 3rd, you haven't gotten it, let me know. Something that bears repeating is that I use the two options the site gives me, one of which is to email everyone subscribed to Organizer Special Announcements...
Finally, I want to clarify the slight event-title change: Because of the eight-day Passover holiday, the Old City Jewish Arts Center will not be having the usual First Friday Shabbat dinner because, as I understand the situation, it's too hard to make the preparations necessary for it to be kosher, in quite the literal sense. :) Depending on how big a group we are at 9:00 and where we can get in, those of us who are free can see if we can find an alternative dinner spot.
Old Stuff (initial event writeup):
Here's the link to the monthly event that has now, I think it's safe to say,
become a regular activity for our group:
https://www.oldcitydistrict.org/first-friday
The photo you see here is from the new interactive, immersive Ministry of
Awe on North 3rd , which is about to open as of this writing. I don't know
at this point whether it will be open during the next First Friday, but we
can hope. :)
As the date draws closer, we'll get more of an idea as to which galleries
and other spaces will be open. When it looks as if all the events have
been listed that are going to be listed (if I'm making sense here), I'll post an
itinerary; I'll also email everyone who RSVPd "yes" the day before (using
the two options the site gives me, one of which is to send a message to
everyone subscribed to Organizer Special Announcements) with my
number so that you can text me before or during the event if you want or
need to.
For the third time, we'll be going to the Shabbat dinner at the Old City
Jewish Arts Center after our last gallery visit. Just to reiterate and
reassure: You don't have to be Jewish to attend! :) It will be Passover, so
there will be no bread, but rather, matzoh, which, if you haven't eaten any,
tastes like Carr's Table Water Crackers. :) [Update: I've just learned that there will be no Shabbat dinner to attend this month, as I explain in the chat below.]
It will also be Good Friday, which, I realize, might prevent some of you
from signing up and might also affect which spaces are open. As my late
mother used to say, "It remains...to be seen." :)
