Explore. Understand. Integrate
Too often political discourse is polarised and stagnant. We either stick to our ideological safe zones, or we argue our case, not really taking the time to understand or accept the other side's views. Or we debate the same ideas over and over, without ever moving the conversation forwards.
At Let's Talk Politics we endeavour to change that. Through mediated conversation, our aim is to take a topic and discuss it, but with a view to understanding the needs of both sides and - crucially - integrating those needs to come up with solutions that benefit everyone.
This is a non-partisan space that welcomes both Conservatives and Progressives and everyone in between. We are an open forum for a free exchange of ideas, whilst being vigilant against harm or cruelty. We aim to challenge, but never attack.
Our philosophy is:
- Feelings are valid, even if the rhetoric is alienating
- Values shape our ideas and its the values that need to be understood
- One opinion is incomplete, no one has full access to the 'truth'
- Many (integrated) opinions get us closer to what will work
