Milwaukee Volleyball For All

We will set up on the grass near the Beulah Brinton building. We may need to set up nets and boundaries depending on the intermediate group before us - the more help we have the sooner we play :) Bring water/drinks, sunscreen, and sunglasses- you can wear sneakers with traction or go barefoot-

They have two sand courts outside. Come in the front door or side door of the bar, then out the back door to get to the courts. They are now charging me $100 for us to play each night. So, you will need to pay me directly. Will be charging $4, so I don’t have to worry about being on top of everything all the time. You will need to pay at the time you sign up. You will be moved to the not going list if you don’t make payment. You can sign up again if there is still room. These are popular events and I don’t want people signing up just to hold a spot who don’t really intend to come. If you want to pay for a month in advance, let me know which month and for Monday or Wednesday, and I will sign you up with the time I open the event. I will do this for up to 10 people for each night, so reach out to me now if you want to do this and make payment. The event will be scheduled from 6:30 PM to 10 PM, but people often stay later. It is a bar and there are lights so they will not kick us out as long as they’re open. We are allowed to bring snacks. They only sell pizza food wise. You can bring water, but no other drinks. Absolutely do not bring any alcohol to the bar. Sometimes the intermediate group is playing before us, so we can’t get on the courts until 6:30. You can play with both groups if you belong to both groups, but you will need to sign up and pay separately. You need to be 18 years old to play and you need to be 21 years old to go into the bar.

Will give refunds up until noon on the day of the event. If you cancel after noon, you will not receive a refund. If an emergency comes up, you can reach out to me and let me know, and I will make an exception. The 5th annual MVFA Volleyball Tournament at Bradford Beach:

The Chicken Wing Tournament and Fundraiser in honor of our friend Wyman - let’s gooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

Here’s the details volley pals:

• we will try to set up on the courts in front of the pavilion/boathouse, by the middle tiki bar. If anything is different, we’ll post a message the morning of the event so look for messages!

• This is not Open Volleyball. It’s a tournament. Teams will stay together the whole day-

• We are raising money to support Wyman’s family, our friend who passed away earlier this year. All of the proceeds will go to his family. I will donate all the food and prizes, but absolutely welcome Any food donations. We will likely have a silent auction so if you have any thing to donate that is small and mobile that would be great – especially gift cards and gift certificates.

• To get your spot and join the festivities: You must be 99.8% sure you can make it or please don’t sign up. If you cancel same day or no show (without evidence of alien abduction or similar trauma) you will be kept out of all events for a month. It is very hectic to reform teams on the day of the event and keep things competitive so if you sign up we will absolutely expect you there. 2) You need to be comfortable playing 3-Hit volleyball. Looking for at least C+ skills, to be able to set and pass accurately at least 1/2 of the time. If you are new to Volleyball or still need a lot of work to get your skills more consistent, this is not for you, but keep working on it for next year!

• I must have some familiarity with your skill level. If you’re not sure if I know who you are and your general volleyball skill level, you must contact me or I will contact you. I can be reached at 414–526–8253. Why? To ensure good competition, teams will be combined with players with of different skill levels. Participants will be put into skill levels of C+/B-, B and B+/A and then randomly combined into teams. So no guests - everyone must sign up separately-

• It will be a pool play tournament this year. You will get to play through the day no matter what your standing :) details to follow.

• REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE ON AUGUST 30th. Please sign up early! We have to get the teams set. If you sign up and need to cancel after that date you must contact me so I can adjust the teams. Signing up is a commitment to your kick ass volleypals! Also, if you cancel with less than a week’s notice after the registration deadline, there will be no further refunds. This will just be a donation to Wyman’s family.

The cost of the tournament is $25. This is a suggested donation. If this is not in your budget, feel free to contribute less. Will ask for a minimum $10 donation. You can pay by Venmo (@deborah-cohen-smith), PayPal (agentdeb7@gmail.com) or Zelle (414-526-8253)

• When the Excitement Starts: 11:00 sharp, we will gather by the courts. So you can get together with your team, create your team name, draft your motto, design a mascot, write your theme song, and choreograph a victory dance. Maybe warm up as a team! If you can’t make it at 11:00 let me know as soon as you know. Leave EARLY from home, carpool or schedule a magic carpet to the beach.

The tournament begins at 11:30 AM sharp! The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat will ensue!! Please do not sign up for the tournament if you cannot stay the whole day. Your team will be playing at least 12 matches, and it gets very hectic when there are people replacing other people partway through the day.

We will have lunch and snacks available. If you work at a restaurant or a business that has prepackaged snacks and may be able to get a donation from your employer, please contact me at 414- 526-8253 as soon as you read this!

As always, there will be treats for everyone and prizes for everyone on the winning team :)
