Wellington MongoDB User Group - Re-Kickoff

Details

Welcome to the re-Kickoff of the Wellington 🇳🇿 MongoDB User Group.

After seeing a lot of interesting in Auckland's MongoDB User Group (MUG) and MongoDB's huge MongoDB.local event in Auckland in August, we thought it would be worth starting to get together a group in Wellington as well.

Our friends at AWS ☁️ have kindly offered to host us for the evening at their offices above Midland Park on Lambton Quay. Complimentary food and drinks as well as some SWAG will be available, proudly sponsored by the team at MongoDB.

Please RSVP ASAP so we can pre-register you at the AWS office. PLEASE ALSO BRING PHOTO ID WITH YOU ON THE EVENING.

5:35pm - Talk 1 (Tim Higgs)

6:30pm - Networking and Food

Speakers

Tim Higgs (LinkedIn) - Tim is a Solutions Architect at MBIE who will be talking about his experience on the Emergency Caller Location Information (ECLI) team. The ECLI Service enables 111 emergency call takers to receive automatically generated geographical information about the likely location of a caller when a 111 call is made fom a mobile device on a cellular network. ECLI uses MongoDB deployed across multiple geographically separated data centers in New Zealand - in order to meet the highest possible uptime requirements.

Philipp Waffler (linkedin) - Philipp is a MongoDB Senior Solution Architect from Munich and based in Melbourne (but married to a kiwi!). He’ll be presenting about why working with documents in MongoDB is different from working with tabular structures in a SQL database. He will present 101 on data modelling in MongoDB and focus on the question of embedding vs. linking data in MongoDB.

------------------------------------

If you'd be interested in helping organise a MUG in future, presenting at a MUG or if you have space to host us - please reach out. MongoDB will be happy to sponsor drinks, food and swag!

Thanks,

Wellington MUG Team
