Those who simply want to walk, socialize, and maybe discover some new things in the city.
There's an endless supply of walk/hike groups heading out into the woods, but this one is about pounding some pavement, peeking in storefronts, appreciating front yards and admiring the built environment. Unless noted, walks will always be in Portland, within a few miles of downtown, and won't be a guided tour.
We'll get together at a specified location, spend a bit of greeting and catchup time, and then venture out to use our feet for awhile! These are as much about the social aspect as they are about the urban exploration and sightseeing. Walks will be slow and meandering. This group won't be your best option for exercise.
I've organized Meetups for years. An organizer will always be present, or the event will be postponed. I feel doing it otherwise is just rude. I prefer to meet at a specific location - outside if it's nice, inside if less so. I'll have a sign or button, or I'll post where I'm standing/sitting once I've arrived.
Also, I will now be screening any new members for real pictures and real names. It's a common courtesy, and an issue of safety and sense of security for other members to have your real identity displayed.
