Looks like the cold has set in for the foreseeable future including some possible rain on Saturday. Unless you see something here (on Meetup) the show will go on! YES! We are on the Greenway again, until hunting season ends.

Once again, if you are active member thank you! If you are new, or have joined and not yet attended an event with our group, you are welcome, your family and friends are welcome! There are no requirements(or disqualifiers) to join a hike outside of a good pair of shoes, willingness, and be ready to do a minimum of 6 miles in most cases.

# 🥾 Your 7-Mile Abbots Creek Trail Hike (Starting near Walkertown Dr.)

Start: 1248 Walkertown Dr. area → access Abbots Creek Trail
Target distance: ≈ 7.0 miles total
Difficulty: Easy–moderate
Surface: Fully paved greenway
Good for: Walkers, hikers, runners, families

# 7-Mile Route (Out-and-Back)

Walkertown Dr → Horseshoe Park → Continue to the Neuse River Greenway → Turn around

### Distance Breakdown

  • Walkertown Dr to Horseshoe Park: ~2.2 miles
  • Horseshoe Park to Neuse River Greenway junction: ~1.3 miles
  • Total one-way: ~3.5 miles
  • Round trip: ~7 miles

### Why this works

  • You stay entirely on Abbots Creek Trail.
  • Scenic mix of creek, woods, bridges, and open stretches.
  • Super simple: just walk past Horseshoe Park and continue until the trail meets the Neuse River Greenway.
  • The junction has benches and a big open clearing — an easy turnaround marker.
