This event was canceled

Details

This event was originally going to be a hike and kayaking day. We will not be able to Kayak, but I have kept the hike. The hike will begin at 8:00AM at the location indicated below.

Kayaking had to be cancelled due to weather, however the hiking will go as planned. The hike/kayak will be rescheduled. Stay Tuned!

Couple of quick notes:
1. You do not have to attend one event to be included in another. If you want to hike but nothing else, or kayak and nothing else those of course are always options.

2. The last time we kayaked it was amazing! Hiking is always amazing.

3. This is our groups one year mark. I could not have imagined a year ago how are we have come!

Thank you all for your patience as we continue to dial in the days events. The day will begin at the usual 8:00 AM at Mountains-to-Sea Trail (Falls Lake Trail) — Beaverdam Access → Out & Back. Distance (6-8 Miles) we can turn around at any point.

Address: 13900 Creedmoor Rd, Wake Forest, NC 27587 it has larger parking than Possum Track, and Cleaner trail access than Beaverdam. To gain access to this site for the day (kayaking etc. you will have to pay $10 PER CAR).

We will remain at the same location to attend the kayaking. PLEASE READ the hiking, please DO NOT just show up to kayak with no gear. We can help get Kayaking gear but we must know ahead of time!

10:30AM: We will be kayaking at the same place utilizing the Beaverdam access ramp. If you do not have a kayak, please do not just show up unless you plan to watch. We have to know who is coming so that we can coordinate extra kayaks or in the event we need to rent them we can find a retailer (renter) and then make the arrangements. Also a life jacket is mandatory (if you get a kayak from us, a vest will be provided). Kayaking will last as long as people want.

12:30: For those who are interested we will identify a location that we can all eat. My suggestion is to bring what you need to the hike (and Kayaking) to keep you from being hungry. Initially we thought a cook out would be fun, but the logistics are proving more difficult.

This was the original post:
This will serve as a save the date. We are finalizing location details, however, we will be celebrating Hiking North Carolina's 1 year anniversary. The plan is to hike, kayak, and even some sort of picnic, or lunch etc. This will be an event on Falls Lake so please save, the date, sign up, and if you cannot make it you can always cancel when the event comes into focus. Stay tuned, and everyone is invited no matter if it is your first or 50th time with us. We can also allow for those that might want to attend one part or another of the days events.
