Description:
Game development has been about the human players and consumers who purchase the games, but what happens when AI comes into the development process? Is it a convenient power-up, or is it sending you to the wrong castle?

GameDev & the Machine: Humans Still Required is a candid discussion with industry professionals and educators sharing their lived experiences navigating the practical pros and cons of AI integration.

Our panelists will explore how AI affects:

  • Easy Patch Notes or Game-Breaking Bug? We’ll see whether AI is a genuine lifesaver for repetitive tasks, and where it’s just making more work for the humans who have to fix it later.
  • Tutorial Level Trap: How does AI affect the next gen of game developers' skill trees? When there's a "cheat code" to skip the homework, does it help or hurt the student? Our panelists will weigh in on how to train the next gen of devs without them clipping through the foundational floors.
  • The Irreplaceable Element: Identifying why human intuition, complex problem-solving, and wibbly wobbly, quirky whimsy of human weirdness are things a machine just can't replicate.

This conversation is driven by the personal opinions and unique workflows of those currently in the game dev trenches. Join us for a balanced look at how developers are choosing to utilize (or reject) these tools to ensure the human element remains at the heart of the game.
