🌊 Kayak + Sunset Picnic @ Stony Creek Metropark 🌅
When: Sunday, July 19th | Meet at 4:00 PM, end 10pm
Where: Stony Creek Boat Launch, Washington, MI (Stony Creek Metropark)
Come spend your Sunday evening on the water with us! We're kayaking Stony Creek Lake, then capping off the night with a picnic right at the launch as the sun sets. Low key, scenic, and a great way to close out the weekend. 🛶
The Plan:
- 4:00 PM: Meet up at the boat launch
- 4:30–6:30 PM: Kayak (1-2 hour rental, plenty of time to explore, no rush)
- 6:30–7:00 PM: Return kayaks, dry off
- 7:00–9:30 PM: Picnic and sunset (sunset's around 9:10 PM 🌇)
- Wrapping up before the park closes at 10 PM
Kayak rental at the boat launch:
Rentals are charged at a rate of $12/hr. Its a first come first serve and the rental must be returned by 8pm. Please arrive before 4:30pm to rent and sign the waiver.
What to bring:
- A Metropark daily or annual pass (required for entry, grab one at the gate if you don't have one, $10 daily)
- Waterproof clothes/change and towels if you don't want to sit around wet
- Something to share for the picnic (I'll provide a google doc, please bring snacks, mains, drinks, blankets, etc. and fill the form!)
- Sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, waterproof bag for your electronics
It's a calm lake, not a river current, so total beginners are welcome!
