Let's Just Have Fun

We've come up with a very worthy cause to throw the weight of our group behind: addressing the bullying crisis and trying to do something about it. The plan we came up with is to create a performance of sorts, consisting of a series of vignettes that can be presented to teens in various after school programs. These skits would illustrate some of the scenarios and the 'players' in a way that could then feed into discussions led by the counselors of the various programs that we would visit with our presentation. We are now looking for volunteers from our group who would like to participate in this endeavor: specifically actors to perform the skits (I will lead that team), writers to write the skits (Carol will lead that team) and an outreach team that would contact potential after school or extracurricular groups that might be interested in this concept (I have asked someone to lead this team and will keep you posted on that.) To get the (now larger) ball rolling, we will meet once more, this time split up into interest groups, at Sam's of Gedney in White Plains, to begin to flush out next steps together. Art Omi presents the work of contemporary artists and architects, featuring a range of large-scale installations in nature and rotating exhibitions in the Newmark Gallery. The Sculpture & Artwork Park currently has more than 60 works on view in the landscape, with pieces added or exchanged each year, ensuring no two trips to Art Omi are ever the same.

Followed by lunch at the nearby White Stone Cafe: a favorite local gathering place for family style American fare and great atmosphere.

Millbrook Winery has a strong commitment to supporting the Hudson Valley community. Together with Arts Mid-Hudson, Millbrook Winery feature Art in the Loft. The seasonal art exhibit brings their upstairs loft to life and creates a unique opportunity to view the works of talented, regional artists. The gallery is open to the public every day in conjunction with the tasting room hours. So let's taste some wine and view some art together.

The Westchester Wine & Food Festival is a multiday extravaganza of wine, food, chefs, restaurants, beer, and spirits, featuring tastings, parties, a burger contest, cooking exhibitions and more!

On Wednesday, June 5th, we'll attend the Party on the Pier at Playland, where we will enjoy a fun-filled evening on the Playland Boardwalk overlooking the beautiful Long Island Sound while enjoying samples of summer favorites from local restaurants and food trucks plus beer, wine, cocktails and live music. The highlight of the night will be the 6th Annual Bartender Shake-Off, featuring Westchester's top bartenders competing for best Bartender honors.

Individual Tickets: $65 (includes all food and beverages at the event)
Tickets can also be purchased at the door for an additional $10 but they do sell out quickly so buy ahead if you're sure you're going!
