We’ve never been more connected. So why do so many of us feel disconnected?

We message all day, follow hundreds of people, work remotely, date through apps and can reach someone on the other side of the world in seconds.

But when was the last time you had a conversation that made you forget about your phone?

For this Socrates Café, we’ll explore a question that touches almost everyone:

Has modern life made it easier to connect — but harder to truly belong?

Come join a relaxed evening of conversation with curious people from different countries, backgrounds and walks of life.

We might talk about:

• Are our friendships becoming broader but less deep?
• Does social media connect us — or make us lonelier?
• Have dating apps changed the way we value people and relationships?
• What does “home” and belonging mean when we live far from where we grew up?
• Can AI ever provide genuine companionship?
• What makes us feel truly seen, understood and connected to another person?

There are no right answers — and you definitely don’t need to be a philosopher. 😉

☕ How does Socrates Café work?

This isn’t a lecture or a formal debate.

We sit together, take one big question and see where the conversation leads.

You can share your perspective, question someone else’s, change your mind halfway through — or simply listen for a while.

The discussion will be lightly moderated so that everyone who wants to contribute gets the chance.

Curiosity matters more than being right.

Challenge ideas, not people. Different opinions make the evening interesting.

Listen as much as you speak. Give others space to finish their thoughts.

Keep it conversational. No long speeches or monologues.

Come as you are. No philosophy knowledge — or perfect English — required.

And when someone shares something personal, please treat it with respect and discretion.

🥂 Bring a drink

This is a relaxed, bring-your-own-drink evening.

Bring whatever you enjoy — wine, beer, juice, tea, sparkling water… anything goes.

💶 Small contribution

A €5 contribution per person is appreciated to help cover the costs of organising and hosting the meetup.

🌍 Who is this for?

Anyone who enjoys meaningful conversations and meeting people beyond the usual small talk.

Come alone or bring someone along. Different ages, nationalities, professions and perspectives are very welcome, the more varied the room, the better the conversation.

Places are kept limited so we can have one genuine conversation rather than a room full of strangers shouting over each other.
