As an elder Millennial increasingly wishing I could go back to the 90's and experience them as an adult, I've been attempting to time travel using film. I encountered this on my hunt for our next movie, and thought it made an interesting contrast to the colourful and polished American movies from that era.

Steve is available on Netflix. Watch at your leisure, and come along on Monday night to share your thoughts. Are there any time periods you'd like to go back and re-live?

Here's a synopsis of Steve:

'Follows headteacher Steve battling for his reform college's survival while managing his mental health. Concurrently, troubled student Shy navigates his violent tendencies and fragility, torn between his past and future prospects.'

And a few critic's takes:

'While the subject matter is serious, Steve has an ever-present feeling of hope and perseverance and is just the kind of movie we need right now in an age where the value of education cannot be understated.'

'If one isn’t moved, one should check one’s pulse.'

'Steve is gripping and exhausting, sharing common themes with Destin Daniel Cretton’s Short Term 12 and Nora Fingscheidt’s electrifying System Crasher. But this film -- and Murphy’s devastating performance -- exist in a class of their own.'

I look forward to your reviews!
