Happy New Year, Colin Burstead
Details
I thought I'd have a look for movies that center on New Years celebrations, and I came across Happy New Year Colin Burstead, available on BBC iPlayer. It's directed by Ben Wheatley of Kill List, Sightseers and High-Rise fame.
This Zoom call is just a discussion about the movie and films generally, we will not be watching it together.
Here's a synopsis:
'Colin rents a country house in Dorset for his extended family to celebrate the New Year. Unbeknownst to other members of the family, his sister Gini has invited their estranged brother David.'
In terms of reviews, it seems to be a bit of a marmite movie. Some say it's a nuanced and entertaining comedy, likely to be dissected in essays on post referendum British life, and others say it has all the right ingredients but doesn't quite hit the mark. What do you make of it? Come along and let us know :)
Happy almost New Year everyone!
