Good Religion: Faith That Moves

### Theme:

Faith • Courage • Legacy • Black Women’s Leadership

### Book summary

AnneMarie Mingo examines the faith and moral leadership of Black churchwomen who participated in the Civil Rights Movement. Rather than treating these women as background figures in the movement, Mingo centers their spiritual lives, courage, theology, and understanding of what it meant to put faith into action.

The book explores women including Ella Baker, Prathia Hall, Willa Beatrice Player, Eberta Lee Spinks, and others, asking what compelled ordinary women to take extraordinary risks for freedom and justice. Mingo connects their faith practices and moral imagination to questions facing communities today.
