Art Therapy: Pattern and Print Play

Details
In this group we will be exploring pattern making through a mono printing technique that uses thin styrofoam plates and acrylic paint. You will be shown how to make a continuous pattern that can be expanded in all 4 directions.
You might like to think symbolically about the pattern that you create, expressing something of the cycles and rhythms in your life. Or you might simply allow yourself to play with the elements of line, shape and colour and see where it goes.
We will do a short grounding meditation at the beginning, an art based warm up to help you get familiar with the process, leaving the majority of time open to create your own work.
We will gather at end as a group to give you the opportunity to reflect on what you made and any significance it holds for you (sharing is optional).
What is Art Therapy?
Art Therapy is a mental health profession where creative arts practices are used alongside applied psychological theory. Some of the impacts on wellbeing can include: cultivation of emotional resiliency, insight and self understanding, enhanced social skills. No special skills are required to attend, our focus in art therapy is 'process over product’. Group work is a cost effective way to access the benefits of art therapy, and can also help to build a sense of community and belonging in a safe environment.
What does the $45 cover?
This covers supply for a range of quality art materials for each group, hire of our beautiful little space, tea & coffee for those who like to sip a cuppa while creating, and guidance through art therapy processes by a registered Art Therapist & Counsellor. Please note Meetup also charge a small booking fee that goes directly to them (I believe approx $2.90)
This gathering has limited numbers to ensure that there is ample time and space for each person to speak about their work and the meaning it holds for them.
If you have any questions please feel welcome to reach out via the Meetup app.
