Art Therapy: Embodiment throught Art

Details
How can we use art making to move more fully into an embodied state? We all experiences varying degrees of comfort in being present with our physical bodies throughout life. This session will be a gentle exploration of ways to affirm what feels safe and do-able for you, with the possibility of expansion. Lots of options and ideas will be given so that you can participate at the level that feel right for you.
There will be simple warm up exercises and a guided meditation to help anchor in. This will be a mixed media workshop so that people can chose the art material they most resonate with on the day. We will gather at the end to reflect together, on the experience and meaning held in each person’s art work (no pressure to share).
What is Art Therapy?
Art Therapy is a mental health profession where creative arts practices are used alongside applied psychological theory. Some of the impacts on wellbeing can include: cultivation of emotional resiliency, insight and self understanding, enhanced social skills. No special skills are required to attend, our focus in art therapy is 'process over product’. Group work is a cost effective way to access the benefits of art therapy, and can also help to build a sense of community and belonging in a safe environment.
What does the $45 cover?
This covers supply for a range of quality art materials for each group, hire of our beautiful little space, tea & coffee for those who like to sip a cuppa while creating, and guidance through art therapy processes by a registered Art Therapist & Counsellor.
Please note Meetup also charge a small booking fee that goes directly to them (I believe approx $2.90)
This gathering has limited numbers to ensure that there is ample time and space for each person to speak about their work and the meaning it holds for them.
If you have any questions please feel welcome to reach out via the Meetup app.
