Art Therapy: Coming Home to Yourself

Details
When we give time and space to our creativity, we come home to ourselves in a very grounded way. Sitting with women and creating / crafting is also an old tradition in our human history that is largely lost in these times. It can bring us nourishment and fortitude to face all of the challenges that we encounter in our lives.
Join us this Sunday for a slow morning of connection and creative practice, where we will have collage materials and a variety other art mediums to play with. It will be an open themed group, for you to explore whatever is needing attention within yourself right now. We are a very welcoming group and gentle guidance will be given to help get you making and follow your flow.
We have time at the end of each group for each person to share about what they have made, this is always optional as artworks can often ‘speak’ for themselves.
Please note: This will be the last group until mid / late June due to Jacqui being overseas.
What is Art Therapy?
Art Therapy is a mental health profession where creative arts practices are used alongside applied psychological theory. Some of the impacts on wellbeing can include: cultivation of emotional resiliency, insight and self understanding, enhanced social skills. No special skills are required to attend, our focus in art therapy is 'process over product’. Group work is a cost effective way to access the benefits of art therapy, and can also help to build a sense of community and belonging in a safe environment.
What does the $45 cover?
This covers supply for a range of quality art materials for each group, hire of our beautiful little space, tea & coffee for those who like to sip a cuppa while creating, and guidance through art therapy processes by a registered Art Therapist & Counsellor. Please note Meetup also charge a small booking fee that goes directly to them (I believe approx $2.90)
This gathering has limited numbers to ensure that there is ample time and space for each person to speak about their work and the meaning it holds for them.
If you have any questions please feel welcome to reach out via the Meetup app.
