What we’re about
Working While Black: Causing Good Trouble for Justice + Change is a civic empowerment platform rooted in lived experience and grounded in education, advocacy, and truth-telling. This space is for Black public servants and allies who are navigating (or recovering from) the emotional, professional, and spiritual toll of working within systems that often reward silence and punish integrity.
This is a community of shared experience—where your presence is meaningful, even if you never share your story. I am choosing to share my story—what I’ve witnessed, what I’ve learned, and what I wish I had known sooner. I’m offering those insights here in service of helping others protect their peace, understand their rights, and feel less alone.
I’m not an attorney or labor expert, and I don’t offer legal advice or referrals—just hard-earned wisdom from the road I’ve traveled. 😊
This platform exists to:
- Share resources and lessons learned from my journey through retaliation, procedural gaslighting, and institutional denial.
- Offer tools and language that may support you in navigating your own path with more clarity and courage.
- Create civic engagement opportunities that push for justice without requiring public exposure.
Whether you’re in the thick of it, healing from it, or strategizing your next steps—there’s space for you here.
Truth. Tools. Transformation. Let’s cause good trouble—together, and on purpose.
