Can You Be Happy After Losing the Race of Your Life? (The GAP & The GAIN)

Details

What separates champions from their equally talented peers?

I believe it's mindset.

(Unless that sport is tennis. Sinner and Alcaraz are not human :)

We're going to talk about a prodigy who nearly medaled in the Olympics at age 16. However, he failed to medal in the next two even though he was considered the best in his sport.

We're going to re-visit his last Olympics and find out which mindset he chose: The GAP or the GAIN?

Did he become a lesson we could all learn from (The GAP) or an inspiration you can choose to model your life after (The GAIN)?

We’ll also explore the paradox of how giving up the need to achieve something can actually make it more achievable.

PS. We might also talk about The GOAT -- Michael Jordan :)

Brief summary of the book courtesy of ChatGPT
The Gap and the Gain by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy explores how people measure progress and happiness. It argues that when we focus on “the Gap”—the distance between where we are and our ideal—we feel frustrated and unfulfilled, but when we focus on “the Gain”—how far we’ve come—we feel motivated, grateful, and successful.

“Everything that psychologists know about how to create a high functioning and successful person can be achieved using The GAP and The GAIN.”
--Benjamin Hardy
