Hi everyone, we're back for our monthly conversation about Atomic Habits by James Clear.

In our last two sessions, we explored the first two laws of behavior change.

This month, we're going back to Chapter 1 to answer a fundamental question:

WHY is it so important to build habits?

We need to talk about it. Because if you don't know the why, the how doesn't matter nearly as much.

We're going to investigate:

  • Why habits are THE key to long-term success.
  • Why it's so tough to stick with a habit -- and why that struggle makes sense.
  • Why habits explain the aphorism: "success is a journey, not a destination."

Come ready to discuss, share your experiences, and rethink what makes small habits so powerful.

Brief summary of the book:
Atomic Habits is James Clear's book about how small, repeatable actions add up to big changes over time. His main argument is that people fail at habits not because they lack willpower, but because they rely on motivation instead of building better systems. He breaks habit formation into four laws: make it obvious, make it attractive, make it easy, and make it satisfying. The book is full of practical tactics like habit stacking, designing your environment so good choices are the default, and never missing twice. It's an easy read and you'll probably find yourself testing something from it before you finish each chapter.
