What we’re about
We are the Barcelona chapter of Democrats Abroad, the official arm of the Democratic Party for Americans living outside the U.S. With the 2026 midterm elections on the horizon, our work to protect democracy and progressive values is more important than ever.
Our Mission is Simple:
✅ Help U.S. citizens abroad register to vote and request their absentee ballots
✅ Mobilize the overseas vote to defend democracy and elect Democrats
✅ Build a vibrant community of engaged Americans in Madrid
Whether you've been here for years or just arrived, you have a role to play. Your vote from abroad can be the margin of victory in critical races across the U.S. and we’re here to make sure it counts.
Get Involved
We organize monthly events, including community meetups, political discussions, and more.
Want to do more? Join our growing team of volunteers! We’re looking for people to help with voter outreach and assistance, event planning, social media, and more. A full list of opportunities can be found here! No matter your skills or availability, there’s a place for you in our movement. Please send us an e-mail to get involved.
Please be sure to check out our merchandise store for Democrats Abroad gear - all proceeds support DA Spain's efforts to get out the vote!

No Tyrants PROTEST — Global Day of Defiance Against Trump Authoritarian Regime
Plaza Sant Jaume, Plaza Sant Jaume esquina Ferran, Barcelona, ESOn Saturday, October 18, millions across the U.S., here in Barcelona, and around the world will rise together in a coordinated day of action to say loud and clear:
No Tyrants. The power belongs to the people.
The U.S. Administration is escalating its attacks: sending militarized forces into communities, threatening free speech, undermining civil rights and social protections, conducting mass deportations, and manipulating voting rules for its own gain — all while families are struggling. This isn’t just politics. It’s democracy versus dictatorship — and together, we choose democracy.
Be a part of the 3.5% — that’s all it takes.* History shows that when just 3.5% of the population unites in sustained, nonviolent resistance, even the most powerful regimes are forced to change.
