Happy Bottoms 2-Hour Volunteering

Details

This HOMEY time, we will be volunteering at Happy Bottoms, a Kansas City-based non-profit organization helping distribute diapers for families in need.

We will be volunteering on Tuesday, March 5th 10 am - 12 pm at 303 W 79th Street Kansas City, MO 64114.

Simply RSVPing through Meetup is NOT ENOUGH to confirm your spot. You must go through Happy Bottoms' volunteering registration process.

To register:

  • Go to their Volunteer Slot Selection Page
  • Click "Community Shift at Happy Bottoms" dated Feb 20 - April 25
  • Click on the green person icon for Tuesday, March 5th
  • Follow the registration process from there
  • Complete the steps until you receive a confirmation email
  • Once confirmed, RSVP on Meetup to indicate you're going

To learn more about Happy Bottoms, visit their website.

Since this is the first time HOMEY is volunteering here, we are registering as individuals.

As of the creation of this event, there are only 5 spots left during that time, so make sure to register through Happy Bottoms and then RSVP here.

About HOMEY
What’s up, HOMEYs!

If you want to make deeper human connections exploring a wide variety of interests, this is the group for you.

HOMEY is open to everyone! All races, religions, genders, sexualities, ages, political parties, occupations, and operating systems are welcome! 😃

Why are we called HOMEY?

  1. The dictionary definition of homey is pleasantly comfortable and cozy; homelike.

That’s what HOMEY time aims for.

2. The colloquial definition of homey / homie is a member of a peer group.

We’re all homeys in this together!

3. My definition of HOMEY is an acronym of 5 characteristics:

  • Heart-Centered (living in alignment with your true self; love and compassion are guiding principles)
  • Open-Minded (open to having new experiences)
  • Mission-Driven (helping others in your unique way as part of a bigger purpose)
  • Equity-Led (we all have our unique stories and no one is better or worse than anyone else; taking ownership of our own lives)
  • Youthful (constantly playing and learning)

HOMEY Time (Meetup Sessions) is like…

  • a young professionals networking with the relationship building but without the formality and necessity to put on a mask
  • a workshop with an engaging activity and takeaway but without the rigid or hierarchical structure of a classroom setting
  • a sports and social group with the excitement, fulfillment, and play without the athletic barrier to entry or pressure to drink
  • group therapy or AA with the support, safety, encouragement, and accountability without the social stigma
  • religious study groups with the depth of conversation and insight without the religious dogmatism

So if these aren’t exactly what we do, then what do we do?

Each HOMEY Time is completely different! And it’s led by each of the members (HOMEYs). Whatever activity that a person feels compelled to facilitate, that’s what we’ll go with!

Want to lead a yoga session? Let’s do it!
Want to facilitate a service activity to give back to the community? Let’s do it!
Want to organize a sand volleyball game? Let’s do it!
Want to have a deep, philosophical, spiritual discussion? Let’s do it!
Want to host a potluck dinner and board game night? Let’s do it!

So what are you waiting for?! Come to the next HOMEY Time and experience it all for yourself!

Welcome home, HOMEY!
