What we’re about

The Pause is a craft group for women of color who want time to slow down, make things, and be in community. We gather to work on individual projects, share conversation when it feels right, and spend time together without urgency or expectation. This is a welcoming, low-pressure space centered on presence, care, and making at a human pace.

Many of us are moving through full, demanding lives with very little room to rest or connect without performing. The Pause was created to offer something simpler: a consistent place to gather, work with our hands, and be around others who understand the value of shared time and lived experience. This group is about building community slowly and honestly.

The Pause is for women of color who want a steady, welcoming space to create and connect. All crafts and skill levels are welcome—knitting, crochet, embroidery, drawing, writing, or anything else you’re working on. Conversation is welcome. Quiet is welcome. You don’t need to be “good” at anything to belong here.

This group intentionally centers women of color. Allies are encouraged to support this intention by creating and participating in spaces that are right for them, rather than attending this one. We appreciate your understanding and respect for the purpose of this community.
