Between Us

Let's skip the usual small talk and get to know each other through something a little more interesting.

We'll begin by reading a short story, article, essay or other piece together. No preparation needed.

Then we'll discuss it as a group, question it, disagree, share our own experiences and see where the conversation takes us.

After that, we'll split into randomly assigned pairs for a few shorter conversations. You'll change partners between rounds, so everyone gets a chance to talk to different people.

We'll finish together as a group.

Come for friendship, dating, or simply to meet interesting people. This is not speed dating, and there is no pressure to exchange contact details with anyone.

If you do connect with someone, exchanging contact details is entirely up to the two of you.

Photos may be taken during the event and shared in our private Telegram group. If you don't want to appear in photos, just let me know.

What happens if we meet people without making small talk?

For most of this event, we won't talk. We'll write.

Everyone will begin by filling in a short page about themselves. We'll then quietly walk around and read what everyone else has written.

After that, you'll be assigned someone to write a letter to. Then we'll do a second round with another person.

Everyone writes two letters and receives two letters.

What you write is up to you. Ask them a question. Tell them something about yourself. Share a story. Make them laugh. Write whatever you genuinely want them to read.

At the end, the letters are delivered, and the ones written to you are yours to keep.

If you'd like the person to contact you afterwards, you can leave your email address in the letter. If you don't, the letter simply ends there.

No phone numbers will be exchanged as part of this event, and no photos will be taken.

We'll allow a little time to talk at the end.
