What we’re about
Hello all!
My name is Jon and I am an experienced and trained hiking leader, nature and wildlife lover who knows more about birds than about himself.
I have recently decided to stretch my wings and to create this group to meet others who are as passionate as I am about the wildlife or would like to learn about it and what a country we live in!
With the world's largest Grey seals colonies, to gannets, puffins and even a walrus and an albatross on the coast to red and black grouses, owls of all sorts , eagles and millions of migrating and wintering birds who travel to and through our island every year, we will have a lot of animals to find and snap.
My trips are open to everyone, from wildlife fanatics to people who would like to discover a bit more about our beloved prettier neighbours.
I will not rush you, we are there to enjoy every minute and even if some trips can be more strenuous than others, we will take the time that you need, you will be able to take photos and videos or just have a breath of fresh air.
I promise laughter, smiles, food orgies and some drinks for those who like a glass of wine or fruit juice alike.
If you want to connect with wonderful people and spend days and weekend trips walking in a nature reserve with other birders or joining a last minute trip to try and find one of the rarities who visit those lands join me on my trails.
There is a lot to see and do and you will have a wonderful time and will fill your head with souvenirs of our giggles and journeys.
See you soon!
Jon

The Trip:
THE BURREN:
Our first day out will be unique, like nowhere else you have ever been to, a place that could as well have been home to fairies or the famous Lepreshaun. That one place that was favoured by the great, the amazing, J.R.R Tolkien, Writer of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit amongst others. A place that inspired him for Gollum, (There is a place nearby called the cave of Gollum) and the Misty mountains, fun fact, he was writing the LOTR at the time...
The Burren National Park, covers 1,800 hectares and is located in County Clare. Its name comes from the Irish boíreann, or rocky place. But the Burren has been referred to as fertile rock, internationally famous for its landscape and unique flora. The Burren National Park is a place of incredible natural beauty with plenty of trails that take you through many fascinating and beautiful habitats, grasslands, woodlands and limestone pavement.
This hike will be about 14 miles/20km long and medium. It will take us about 5 1/2 hours to completes and will be the longest one.
THE CLIFFS OF MOHER
Our second day will be your new favourite hike, the 'BIG ONE' but a shorter one, probably one of the most beautiful you have ever seen...
The Cliffs of Moher are renowned for their grand magnificence, their seabird colonies and the various coastal landscapes are something else. Birds including puffins, gannets, and guillemots nest on the cliffs from June to September. The cliffs have been featured in numerous films and are a popular tourist destination, attracting over a million visitors each year. The Princess bride, Harry Potter, and many more have been filmed there.
The hike is about 8 miles/12km long and will take about 3 hours.
While there we will spend a couple of hours observing and photographing the puffins and other seabird colonies If you have binoculars for the puffins, it will be great. I will have my 600mm lens with me so you will receive the photos taken on the day once we come back to London on the group chat :)

Let's start the summer with your brand new favourite hike!
Yeeeeeesssssss!
And the best thing about it?! There is a colony of razorbills and guillemots on the way and a view point for wild dolphins!WHAT?!
This is not just a wildlife trip but also a hike, although the hike isn't long, there will be quite a bit of walking.
Wanna go to an absolutely stunning place and enjoy some less known and less busy views of the Jurassic Coast with as much beauty as the Durdle Door or the Coast of Ireland?
Yes you do! And this is your trip!
After the success of the trial in May, I have decided to do this again for those who have missed it!
The Jurassic Coast is the Jewel on the crown when it comes to English Coastal beauty and the area which is 95 miles long (150 km) being difficult to access, most people and hikers just go and visit the Old Harry's, Durdle door and Lulworth Cove, about only 20 miles of this very long coastline missing the other 90% WHAT?!
Yes I know, this is a big mistake! There is SO much more to enjoy and the landscapes you will see on this trip will blow your mind!
SO, here are a few details for you to get an idea of the trip.
We will take a train for a couple of hours, (about 2h10) and then a short bus journey(30 minutes) to Swanage cutting our journey time from 5 to 3 hours. From the sightseeing bus, you will be able to admire national beauties along the way. You need to deserve the Jurassic Coast after all, it isn't so easy to just get there!
Once in Swanage, we will start our hike and climb to see the wonders of Dorset, the hike is medium with a few climbs but it is really worth it.
Most of the hike will be on the Southwest Coastal Path and around pretty places such as Anvill Point Lighthouse, Dulston Castle and The Globe with incredible view of a sea that doesn't really make you think UK kind of sea but has more of a Mediterranean kind of vibe.
We will have a break at the Dolphin hut, famous view point for wild dolphins and seals, keep your eyes pealed and you will have views of the colonies of Guillemots, razorbills, both from the penguin family and why not peregrine falcon or ravens, who knows?
We will have a break on the cliff top and will then walk through another path back to Swanage where you can get a take away for the train or have a drink there or Wareham if we have time.
And of course, who says summer and sandy beaches says... SWIMMING! So bring your swim suit!
Guys, the Jurassic Coast is on the other side of the world so it will be a full day out, we should be back at Waterloo by 21:30... and our train tickets are booked for a certain time to save a bit of ££, but British rail...you know... so do not plan an early one in the evening as I will not cut the trip short, I will have a UNO though so be ready for war!
INFORMATION:
ATTENTION As Always, trains in Britain, once you leave the South Eastern coast are extremely expensive. Usually about £45-50 return with the group discount, I will collect that money on the day before the hike via bank transfer to buy the train tickets. If you wish to buy your train ticket on the day, you are welcome to do so but you will pay a lot more as you will not have the group discount...There will also be an additional charge on the day of 4£50 tap in with your bank card to pay for a return bus ticket too.
DISTANCE: 9 miles/16km and it takes about 4.5 hours
DIFFICULTY: Medium, a few steepish climbs
PRICE:
£19 via Paypal (I have to include my cost such as train and bus sorry)
The train ticket should be around £50 ish return to send on my BA on the day before the hike.
About 4£50 tap in for a short bus journey on a sightseeing bus
INCLUDED in the fee:
Guide fee
My costs (My train and buses)
My Paypal fees and my costs
A lovely time with the loveliest people, also called Jonions
NOT INCLUDED:
Bus fare
Train
Food
Anything not mentioned above
