Art Riot : against night life performers discrimination and inequality

In light of recent developments surrounding racism, discrimination, and other abuses of power at various nightlife venues, We Together are bringing various collectives and community leaders to host ART RIOT, at 3 Dollar Bill on July 31st at 8:00 pm.

This would be an educational town-hall style event to respond to the current situation by bringing awareness to issues that are plaguing our community such as racism, misogyny, transphobia, fatphobia, etc; platforming and raising funds for the artists that were hurt by workplace discrimination, and coming up with concrete solutions, suggestions, and visions we would like to see implemented in nightlife.
The event would feature a diverse set of programming, that would include performances from some of the most exciting members of our community who have been affected by discrimination and inequity, as well as individual speeches from prominent community members and multiple panels, including “Being Trans and BIPOC in Nightlife” (moderated by @cetaitbontemps) and “Equity for Drag Kings and Things” (moderated by @tunameltdrag). There will also be a presentation of an upcoming short documentary “We The Collective”, centered on NYC’s nightlife economy and the black and brown LGBTQ+ people who call it home”, presented by Executive Producer @seventh_kevin.
The event would also have a visual art portion, where various visual artists would donate their paintings and prints to be raffled away. Together with ticket sales, all profits will be split equally among the performers.
The time is now to fight the status quo! If you stand against discrimination and want this community to be ruled by equity, justice and love- come out, support your local performers and let your own voice be heard!
