Birding at Lincoln Regional Park in Tucson
Details
There are two different entrances to this large city park on the southeast side of Tucson. We will use the one that is further East on Escalante Rd.
The Lower Lincoln Regional Park and the Atterbury-Lyman Sanctuary is bordered by Santa Rita High School on the west side and a small neighborhood on the east side as well as the Fred Enke Golf Course.
There's a nice size parking lot where can meet and it's beside a large open
grassy field. There's a path system that takes us into the more primitive
section of the park that can be a loop walk where we come out at a
different spot from where we enter.
I look forward to seeing you all once again. IF you are new and you do
not have binoculars then I have a couple extra.
When you are driving around the city during the day you'll probably
see hawks soaring as they are migrating north right now. I've seen
several; Redtail hawks, Cooper's hawks, Sharp-shinned hawks, Harris
hawks are what are mostly flying. Cooper's are year round residents,
some Redtail's and Harris's too. You may see the American Kestrel also.
