Neuro Rhythms: Beginner Guitar for the Neurospicy

Details
📍 Glendale Branch Public Library
~ Meet in Meeting Room A (Go to the front desk, turn left, and head down the short hallway to the glass doors).
Ready to pick up a guitar, dust off an old one, or just explore the joy of music in a truly supportive, understanding, and neuro-affirming community designed specifically for neurodiverse learners? This beginner-friendly class is your perfect introduction to finding your rhythm and connecting with fellow neurodiverse Wanderers who are building their chosen family, or as I like to call them, shovel friends. You know, the kind of people you could show up at their door in the middle of the night with a dead body, and with no hesitation they'd look at you and say, "I'll get the shovels." This is a space where learning happens at your own pace, with zero pressure, and your unique way of experiencing the world is not just celebrated, but understood and supported.
I’ll be leading the class myself, and as a neurospicy individual who has taught many neurocomplex individuals in both public and private music settings, I love helping people discover the joy of music, especially those picking it up for the first time. This group is all about learning at your own pace, with ample encouragement and a focus on creating a comfortable and predictable environment. We understand that different brains learn differently, and we'll adapt to ensure everyone feels successful. Each session builds a little more skill, but more importantly, it builds genuine connection in a truly inclusive space. You’ll leave not just playing your first full song, but also with a few new shovel friends to share the journey with. Experienced guitarists are also welcome to join, help out, and bring some creative energy to our jam at the end!
Bring your acoustic guitar (or an electric with a small amp) and an open mind. We’ll end with a casual jam session where everyone can join in.
Upcoming Songs – Our Journey So Far

- February – “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd
- March – “Numb” by Linkin Park
- April – “What I Like About You" by The Romantics

We’ll cycle back to the beginning in January for anyone just joining the adventure.
