What we're about

The formulation of a company/organization can impact both how it raises money as well as the tax that it and its founders pay at startup and, later, if it successfully raises money and exit. Subhan Tariq will discuss the corporate structure strategy, including LLCs, C-Corps, S-corps, and B-corps. In addition, the new "Trump" tax laws have implications for companies that have already been created and our tax accountant speaker, Robert Moses, of SCORE, will share how to legally minimize taxation. Finally, a financial and corporate structure can impact how you raise funding and NYC Business Solutions Advisor Stephany Reyes-Seri will offer insight on the different debt instruments that can help you raise funds, including the Kiva Solution. Join Stage2Startups & the Dumbo Network for an informative and interesting evening, with light snacks to enjoy.

Note that this month, we have two events back-to-back. So in order to give enthusiastic attendees a nice deal, we're also going to offer you "two-in-one-ticket" pricing. Whether you sign up for one or two events, you will be added to the new S2S Community listserv -- and that means we will just send you an email and you can accept or reject the invitation to join the listserv. Image Rights: Note that Stage2Startups & Dumbo Network may record your image, photograph, and voice by any technology means at the event ("recording") and use it in various media for the event, advertising, or any other lawful purpose and you release Stage2Startups and Dumbo Network from any claims resulting from such use of the Recording.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

We prefer that attendees be 18 or above. There are no ID requirements. For security purposes, we may need the full name of all attendees. So if you sign up for more than one person, shoot us an email to info@stage2startups.org so we can make sure your friend gets in.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The event is held at 28th street and Madison Avenue and is easily accessible by subway at 28 and Broadway for the R, W lines and 28 and Park Avenue for the 6 line.

What can I bring to the event?

Bring something to write notes, in case you feel like writing notes. We'll bring in some snacks so you won't be hungry and if the speakers have presentations, they will be sent to you by email, so make sure you give us an email that works!
