Imperial Dunes is recreational park of sand dunes about 2.5 hours east of San Diego. I've always wanted to off road in the desert on sand rails or dune buggies and i've been pondering this location lately. Imperial dunes has beautiful rolling dunes as far as the eye can see and in the sunset it looks amazing. Buggies can be day or 1/2 day rentals.
I am testing the waters with this tentative event and will finalize the details as i gauge interest from the community. If there is sufficient interest then we can finalize a date and meetup location since the area is fairly large. I would also presume we would spend most of the day there so people would likely have to drive there themselves or some could carpool together. There would also be the option to return same day or people could get hotels and return in the morning.
You would need a permit to use the recreational area and the website below tells you how to get it online for about $55 weekly fee.
