We have been used to hearing that free and open source software and enterprise environments in Big Business are fundamentally opposed and do not mix well.

But in 2022, modern systems incorporate open source to a large extent (even Microsoft ships with a complete Linux as a subsystem) and in development and service delivery open source tools are simply parts of the basic environment.

Peter Hansteen from Tietoevry Create Norway explores a bit of history and how to interact sensibly with open source projects, even how to safely contribute back if you want to.
