Join our Healing through Writing meetup where we focus on exploring personal stories and emotions through writing. We’ll be running writing exercises to stretch your imagination and help you on your healing journey. If you want to have fun and heal through creativity and self-reflection, this group is a place to express yourself.
Please keep a book/journal and a pen ready. Each session will include 3 writing exercises to help you reflect on the topic of the week and what surfaces for you through that reflection - past pain, unresolved hurt, sadness and feelings you have been holding. You will have the option to share these and how it made you feel at the end of each session. Because it is only through writing that you honour your feelings and aknowledge how it has impacted you and your life. This is where the healing begins.
At the end of the workshop, for those interested, I will be sending out daily exercies on self-reflection to help you on your journey to acknowlege and heal your inner child.
Please see below a sample of the type of sessions a workshop will include:
Exercise 1 (5 minutes):
You will be given a word and will have 5 minutes to write a story/poem/thoughts/reflections using this word. You will be surprised to see what surfaces here...
Exercise 2 (5 minutes):
You will be asked to write about something you have blamed yourself - for what you didn’t know, for how hard you tried, for the ways you’ve judged yourself. Write "I forgive myself for…”
This will help you to practise self-compassion. To not be unkind and hard on yourself - the world does enough of that!
Exercise 3 (5 minutes):
You will be given an adjective and your task will be to write a letter to yourself describing how you are that adjective. This is where the healing happens when you recognise your own self-worth and start to acknowledge your qualities.
